Many patients requested prayers from our team.  Here are some prayer requests inspired by this year's mission trip.  Please join our team in continuing to labor long-distance through our "earnest supplication".

LUZ: "The Light"
Luz is a married woman in her early forties struggling with depression and anxiety.  She has five living children, and three who died in infancy.  She is a Christian, and just started attending church regularly after a long hiatus.  Although she was unable to tell me exactly what is causing her struggles, I suspect her marriage is abusive in some way.  I taught her the Psalm:  "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding; in all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path." Psalm 3:5

JOSE RAMON: Director of Natural Resources Dept.
Jose was our host in Honduras.  He and his wife have had numerous hard trials throughout their life.  Right now they are facing a court case after a car accident that totaled J.R.'s truck.  Auto insurance doesn't exist in Honduras, and the both the police and justice departments are very corrupt.  J.R. is very uncertain what the outcome of the case will be, but told us his house is in jeopardy.  Please pray for mercy from the judge who tries the case.

JUELO: Stomach Tumor
Juelo is a man in his fifties who accepted Christ after hearing that he has an inoperable large tumor just below his stomach.  The tumor also involves his liver and possibly other organs or lymph nodes as well.  Even if the tumor is benign, it is potentially fatal because it is fast growing and is restricting his ability to eat.  Please pray for peace for him as he approaches his death.

MARIA FRANCESCA: Syphilis
Maria is in the third stage of syphilis, which means she has psychoses and numerous painful physical symptoms, including large lesions throughout her body and constant itching.  Her children are caring for her as she approaches her death, and they are uncertain if she is a believer of Christ's gospel.  Pray that her daughter will get through to her with the gospel before her death.

MARIA MARGARET: Seizures and Mental Handicap
Maria came to us with nearly fatal high blood pressure and grand mal seizures.  We treated both and released her to go to the local hospital, where she will most likely be turned away.  We gave her medication to treat the high blood pressure and seizures but are unsure if she will continue to take them.  She struggles to care for herself and is often a burden to her siblings and community.

JOSEU: Child with Seizures
I described Joseu's case on the "Beautiful Faces" page.  Please pray that his seizures will remain under control and that his brain will continue to develop normally after the long period of seizure he experienced the day he came to our clinic.  Pray that our care of him as a child will influence his decision regarding salvation in the future.

MICHAEL: Drug User
Michael is a man in his twenties who uses cocaine daily.  He had high blood pressure and a fast heart rate which could prove fatal if he continues to use drugs.  He has come to the clinic before seeking treatment for his headaches, also related to his drug use.  No one is sure if he has accepted salvation.

There are also many general issues regarding the mission work in La Ceiba that need prayer:

  • Continued expansion of the clinic facility
  • Winning souls for Christ using clinic as evangelism outreach
  • Desire and strength for workers from Iglesia Gran Comision
  • Strength and wisdom for Dagoberte, the pastor and administrator
  • Building of church in front of clinic site
  • Continued interest on the part of international missions teams
  • More doctors from the area to volunteer their time
